An Akashic Perspective on Social Movements

What do you see as the number one social justice issue that requires our full attention in order to create more positive social momentum for humanity?

The social movement that will make the biggest change in terms of the way love and fear operate on this planet does not yet have a true name.  This social movement is a movement of gathering in love.  It is happening in many different ways but not happening fully or completely in any of the primary social movements that you might think of.  For instance, it’s not happening in the environmental movement, it’s not happening in the social justice movement, it’s not happening in the racial justice or poverty justice movements fully or completely.  All of those movements emerged from a reality that did not have as much Love available as you have now. 

Now there are human beings beginning to gather together in love.  This is happening in a way that is not yet being called a social movement, but is creating more social movement than any of those we just named.  When people gather in prayer circles in their churches, when people gather to do chanting or meditation, when people gather to watch their children put on a play – there is something happening there.  This “something” is a shift that occurs when you gather together and set aside your fears and judgments of one another.  This “something” is never politically motivated, but always has a political effect.  This “something” is what happens when you decide to openly love each other unconditionally.  And this is the place where social movement is occurring. 

The social movements you have named and defined are all stuck by the ways you have poured your fears and judgments into them.  To heal and energize social movements, you must stop using them to blame, judge, or marginalize people.  Instead, find ways to gather people from all sides of a political issue and find what you love about each other.  This is the place you will find the most social movement.  It requires a great deal more courage than your current ways of marginalizing each other.

It will become inevitable that the social movements that embrace this way of being in love with each other, or who begin to merge with the sense of one human’s love for another will continue to flourish.  The others will continue to be stuck in the mud.
